Believe in eye exercises

Posted by sean - August 29th, 2010

The use of corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses is sometimes considered to worsen eye tension on a regular basis. On the other hand, both nearsightedness and farsightedness are thought to be caused by vision tension. The eyes muscles need proper rest and relaxation during daily usage. This is also true for the rest of the muscles around the body. During the recent years, the importance of relaxation for ocular health is being increasingly recognized. Many eyewear users may be indulged in the fact that these magic eyeglasses or contact lenses easily help them restore normal vision. However, the use of corrective devices will actually increase the amount of exercise the eyes have to do, resulting in visual deterioration. This is not a tale but a real fact, testified by the fact that most wearers need to buy new glasses or contacts with a stronger prescription.

The most important thing the eyes should receive is eye exercise. In fact, there are a number of eye exercises that can reduce eye strain and improve eye relaxation. The majority of these exercises only need to be maintained five minutes every day. Over time, eyesight will gradually improve. The simplest form of eye exercise is to look out the window. The twenty-first century is witnessing the rapid development of the PC industry that more and more jobs and occupations rely on the use of a computer. Spending a lot of time indoors or working at a computer is very easy to cause eyestrain. It is widely encouraged to look out the window for several minutes after two or three hours of indoor working.

Another eye exercise is to look up as far as possible with the body sitting or lying down for five seconds. The next step is to make the eyes to center again for a few seconds. And then look down for another five seconds. Similar steps involve looking to the left and the right repeatedly. Palming is another type of eye exercise that is also widely recommended. These eye exercises discussed before are centrally focused on the eyes. Full body relaxation is also beneficial to the eyes.

Many people are told that UV rays are harmful for their health. But only few can tell what they are. In fact, UV rays are some harmful radiations in the sunlight. It is the abbreviation of Ultra Violet Rays. Those radiations will not only cause great damage to human beings, on their eyes, skins, hairs, etc. but also cause damage to houses, cars, etc.

People have also tried various sorts of ways to combat those harmful radiations, like using some covers, some screen and so like. Or they use sunglasses to protect their eyes. They put their cars and other devices into shadows, so as to avoid any damage on them. However, people do not know that children are the great victims of UV rays. They often expose themselves to the sunlight without protection.

Therefore, more attention should be paid to the protection of children from being damaged by UV rays. Some particular measures should be taken, such as, ask them to wear protective sunglasses.

However, sunglasses from some famous brands are really costly and only few people can afford. Luckily, there are some very particular and cheap sunglasses in the market, like Inspired Sunglasses. Those sunglasses can effectively filter out almost all UV rays. Those glasses are cheap but secured in quality. And parents should buy them for their children.

Does our eye need Vitamins?

Posted by sean - August 4th, 2010

A week ago, I visited my doctor for eye test as I found recently my left eye was not as good as before. Just as my feeling, there were indeed some signs showing this eye was not as perfect as before. And my doctor advised to do another eye test a month later to see if they would be deteriorating. I was sad to hear about the news, though I have some predictions before. I was very proud of my perfect vision before, and thanks to my parents that I didn’t need to worry about my perfect vision while paying no attention to the eye care. But now, I may have bad vision.

Then I thought about an idea I heard before about Vitamin eye care, why should I ask if it is effective to my eye doctor? So I decided to make good use of this opportunity to learn some eye care knowledge. Do some Vitamins have good effect on people’s eye care? My eye doctor said some researches had shown certain Vitamins are important and necessary for people’s eye health, actually, we can take in these Vitamins from certain food, but we can also take some supplements for insurance. Yeah, I found a new hope and I may have opportunity to have perfect vision as before with these Vitamins. Therefore, I decided to learn more about these vitamins to help my not perfect vision of my left eyes.

After I got back home, I can’t wait to open my computers to check more information of Vitamins which will be good for our eye health. To my surprise, I found there were many types of Vitamins recommended for good eye health, such as Vitamin A, C, E and so on. Besides, zinc and copper can also help people to have good eyesight. What’s more, there were more than 20 types of Vitamin can also have good influence on people’s good eyesight. I was very glad and surprised to find this information as I never knew this before.

I thought I had new hope for my left eyesight if I can take in these supplements. After more reading, I noticed all these Vitamins not only have some good effect on our eye health, but also do well to our whole body health. How great they were! Thanks God I knew this from now on, I thought. From that time, I made up my mind to have these Vitamins everyday to ensure a good eye care. Don’t you think it is better to take in some Vitamins which are also good for our body than wearing glasses?

Posted by sean - July 15th, 2010

Myopic eye or myopia, is a vision problem in which people have difficulty in reading and seeing objects clearly at a distance, which appear blurred because these images are focused in front of the retina, but can see nearby tasks. The eyeball of a myopic people is a little longer from front to back than general people. Myopia is also called nearsightedness, shortsightedness or short sight. About one third of the people around the word experienced myopia. And myopic eye usually occurs in childhood.

A diagnosis of myopia is typically confirmed during an eye examination by an ophthalmologist, optometrist or orthoptist. If someone is myopic, the prescription is a negative number. Myopic eye can usually be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. You may need to wear your glasses or contact lenses all the time if the negative number is high (high myopia), or only when you need to see something clearly if myopia is not serious (low myopia). Myopia may stabilize at a certain point, or in other conditions it worsens gradually. So myopic people should do eye exam and change their eyeglasses if necessary. Orthokeratology is a non-surgical procedure for myopia correction, in which you wear special contact lenses that slowly reshape the cornea and when the lenses are removed and the patient can see clearly without the lenses temporarily. Myopia can also be corrected by eye surgery, such as LASIK or PRK. LASIK is the most common surgery for correcting myopia, in which a flap is cut through the top of the cornea by an excimer laser. In PRK the laser removes a layer of corneal tissue to correct myopia, which allows light rays to focus on the retina. If the eye surgery is successful, you may not need to wear glasses or contacts.

Eye exercises for eye health

Posted by sean - June 21st, 2010

It is widely accepted that eyesight is affected by factors such as stress, diet and lack of sleep. Many experts have suggested that some eye exercises can help prevent damage to the eyes. Another problem is that whether these exercises can undo damage to the eyes. Most individuals know that broken bones can be rejoined through surgeries. Based on this fact, the world renowned ophthalmologist William H. Bates thought that eyesight can also be improved and he had developed some simple exercises of eye relaxation for visual improvement 100 years ago.

Eyesight deterioration occurs because the eye muscles weaken over time. The most popular way to “correct” visual problems is eyewear, including prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses. However, these lenses never make the eye muscles stronger. Actually they just provide a compromise, rather than correct visual problems.

Some types of eye exercises have been developed to help patients maintain good eye health. A simple exercise requires a person to draw a large ‘E’ on a sheet of paper. Focus on the top bar, then the bottom bar and then the middle bar. Move the page away and repeat this process until the letter is obscure.

Another exercise can be used to improve peripheral vision. Hold your hand out in the peripheral vision and wiggle your fingers. Move the fingers closer if they are blurry.

In addition, an eye chart that is as the same as one in a doctor’s room can also be used to do some exercises. You can put it up in an easily accessible place and keep glancing at it every now and then. Actually any other object in the visual field can be a replacement. You should simply pay attention to its details and the surrounding environment. This simply exercise trains both eye movement and information perception in the mind.

These simply exercises should be your daily habit should you want to gain visual improvement. As time passes by and results occur, interest may also increase.

Some manufactures claim that their contacts can be worn for all day long. But wearing contact lenses too long can cause damage onto eyes, however perfect those contacts are. Thus, it is suggested that glasses are better alternatives than contacts, for glasses are cheap and will cause no direct damage to eyes.

The other point is we should be very cautious about eye drops. Sometimes, eye drops can cause damage to our eyes. Some of us may frequently use eye drops. This is not a good habit. We should follow the related guidance. Sometimes, eye drops can not be used for some contacts wearers, for the drops may react with the contact lenses.
