Are Designer Sunglasses Worth Paying lots of Money
Have you ever stood and stared at the little nicely displayed sunglasses in a Bulgari or Salvatore Ferragamo store, wondering what on earth made those pieces of plastic and metal worth the horrifying price tags by their sides? The average Joe like us who have a budget when it comes to purchasing accessories sometimes just don’t get it. Yet, suspicious as we are, we still go ahead and pay these money grabbers, simply due to the thought that more expensive must means better. The question is: Are these designer sunglasses really any better in terms of quality and functionality than the $25 pairs you can pick up at a mall or purchase from an online store?

To answer that, we have to go deep down to the manufacturing of sunglasses. As it turns out, most sunglasses are made by the same companies. An Italian manufacturer Luxottica makes sunglasses branded Burberry, Chanel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith,Stella McCartney, Tiffany, Versace, Vogue, Persol, Miu Miu, Tory Burch and Donna Karan. Sunglasses were made by the same manufacturer and then sent to different stores, labeled with different brands and sold at different prices. Do you really expect them to be any different in quality?
In terms of functionality, designer sunglasses don’t have a competitive edge over non-designer ones, either. Making lenses that protect your eyes from the UV rays given off by the sun that can cause irreparable damages to your eyes isn’t very expensive technology. Cheaper sunglasses that you purchase from an online store block out (regular) white light just as well as those designer ones, except they don’t come with a brand name, and they are cheaper.
Some people may raise the issue of durability and argue that designer sunglasses may last longer and therefore make the high price worthwhile. Well, the fact of the matter is people who purchase designer sunglasses will want a new pair each year when the brand update their latest style. Even though they may last longer, they won’t be worn because when the next season hits, the old pairs lose their brand value and get thrown away.
As the above stated, it is not worthwhile to buy designer sunglasses by spending a large number of money. There are lots of fashion sunglasses available within your reach, and you can get your favorite one freely.
